Contemplative
Prayer Group formation meeting will be held
today at 12:30 p.m., in the Janney Parlor.
Traditionally called contemplative prayer, centering prayer is a
method of prayer which prepares us to receive the gift of God’s presence by
consenting to God’s presence and action within, furthers the development of
contemplative prayer by quieting our faculties to cooperate with the gift of
God’s presence, and emphasizes prayer as a personal relationship with God. Contact Henry Stribling through the Church
Office at (703)777-1124 for more information.
Youth
Groups will not meet today. We’ll resume meeting next Sunday.
Do you still have palms left over from last year’s
Palm Sunday service? Bring them to church and place them in the basket in the
back of the Nave. We will collect them
until February 3. They are burned and become the ashes used for Ash
Wednesday.
The Church Office will be closed on Monday,
January 21, in observance of the Martin Luther King holiday. We will reopen
on Tuesday, January 22.
2008
Pledge Envelopes are here! You may pick up your boxes of 2008 pledge envelopes
from the tables at the back of the church behind the pews. If you do not find your box or if you would
like to request a box of pledge envelopes, please contact Sheri Nelson,
Financial Administrator, at (703)777-1124 ext. 109 or

Kids With Purpose
2008 Winter Session Happy New Year from KWP! We are bubbling over with enthusiasm for our
next session which will start January 23, and will end before Spring
Break. Each season seems to bring many
new and returning faces, and we’re happy to see them all! Children seem to be in the
groove of volunteering their time to make the world a better place. KWP exposes them to many different needs,
including literacy, autism, Loudoun Free Clinic, Solar Light for Africa, New
Orleans, seniors, homeless shelters, Interfaith Relief, Ida Lee, animals, and
more. We hope to inspire children to
look around them, recognize the needs of others, and to help make a difference.
They have done a fabulous job! Please email us at KWPstjames@aol.com if you know of a group who
could use our help.
Registration will be open to
the community from January 14—21. Please
email any questions you have to KWPstjames@aol.com.
Thank you for your
support!!!
To Register:
Pick-up a KWP Registration
packet in the Narthex.
