Adult Forum: “We’re growing—so why is there conflict?” (Acts 6)
Growth—individual
growth, business growth, church growth—inherently brings conflict. Join Fr. John in
this, the fourth of the seven-part series, for a
discussion of Acts 6 as a resource for addressing conflict.
Adult Forum runs from 10:10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
in the Old School Building, at the corner of Wirt and North Streets.

Annual
Giving Campaign
Our annual giving campaign is now
underway. Unless you’re a newcomer – in
which case, you are our guest – you should have already received a pledge
card. We ask that you return your pledge
card between now and Sunday, October 28 (next Sunday). By doing so, you help your Vestry get an
accurate picture of how much money we can plan on using to fund St. James’
ministries and mission for 2008. We
conclude our Annual Giving Campaign with a potluck “victory dinner” at Ida Lee Rec Center, next Sunday, October 28, at 5:00 p.m. – See the
orange insert!
All Saints’ Day Service: In
the past year, has someone near to you died? All Saints’ Day, celebrated on
November 4 this year, is a day to celebrate all of God’s saints, both the
living and the dead. On November 4, at all services, we will remember by name
those who have died in the past year, those whom Scripture refers to as our
“great cloud of witnesses.” If you would like to add a friend or family member
to the list of those being remembered in our All Saints’ Day services, please
call the Church Office at (703)777-1124 or email us at
info@stjamesleesburg.org.
Flu Shots at St. James’: INOVA Mobile
Health Services will provide flu shots on November 4
from
11:00
a.m. — 2:00
p.m.
in
the
Parish Library on the second floor of the Janney
House. Flu shots are available on a first come-first
serve basis for $25 from age 4 (children under 18 must
be accompanied by a parent) to adulthood.
Senior citizens with a valid Medicare Part B may receive the shot for
free. For more information, call (703)204-3325.
Join the St. James’ Book
Club as we enjoy a pre-Thanksgiving feast
and discuss the classic novella, Babette’s
Feast, on Thursday, November 8. In this modern fable, a mysterious
Frenchwoman prepares a sumptuous dinner for a gathering of religious ascetics
and, in doing so, introduces them to the true essence of grace. We will meet at 7:00 p.m. in the Janney Parlor to discuss themes and view the video. All are welcome! Please bring a snack or beverage to
share. Contact Mary
Pellicano at the
Church Office at (703)777-1124 for more information.
St. James’ Fall
Clean Up Day - Saturday, November 10, from 8:45
a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (rain
makeup date Saturday, November 17) Please join the
Property Committee, Kids With Purpose, the St. James’ Youth Groups, and your
fellow parishioners for the St. James’ Fall Clean Up Day. There will be plenty of food and fellowship
to go along with the hard work of cleaning and sprucing up St. James’. Meet at 8:45 a.m. in the parking lot with
your rakes, work gloves, pitch forks, shovels, etc. Bring the entire family - we have more than
enough work—and food!— for all ages.
St. James’
Preschool currently has openings for children in
their 2 1/2- and 3-year-old programs.
Contact the Preschool office at (703) 777-8439 for more information.
Fill a
Thanksgiving Bag to help a neighbor
here in Loudoun
County for Loudoun Interfaith Relief
Interfaith Relief has received ample cranberry sauce
and canned pumpkin, so they do not need these items. Drop off your bags in the Narthex from
