Today
¨
Welcome: No
matter who you are, or where you are in your faith journey, you are welcome
here. After the 7:45 service, please join us in the Parish Hall for a cup of
coffee and after the 9:00 and 11:15 services — weather permitting — outside the
Bell Tower for lemonade and iced tea.
¨
Welcome
Newcomers: Please join us today for a special Newcomers’
Coffee in the Janney Parlor at 10:10 a.m., after the 9:00 service, to meet,
greet, eat, ask your questions, and receive a welcome packet.
Sunday, October 21, is
the Virginia Major State Day at
Washington National Cathedral. The worship service in honor of
Virginia will be held at 11:15 a.m. At 10:00 a.m., the Sunday Dean’s Forum will
feature Dr. Francis Collins, a native Virginian and one of the country’s
leading geneticists. Virginia’s State Day happens every four years, so this is
an unusual event. It also will be a wonderful day of celebration of 400 years of
Anglicanism in Virginia. Gary & Claudine Edelblute will be leading a small
group to the Cathedral; to guarantee seating, groups must register in advance.
For more information, contact the Church Office at (703)777-1124.
Oktoberfest is
coming soon. Please join us for
authentic German fare, music, and spirits on September 23, in the church
parking lot following the 11:15 service.
Sign up in the Narthex to bring your German culinary creations. Volunteering to help with this event is a
great way to get to know your fellow parishioners. Call the Church Office for more information at (703) 777-1124.

Coffee Hour Hosts
Needed: Now
that it is nearly Fall, we are seeing lots of newcomers, and the ministry of
hospitality on Sunday morning is one of the most important things we’re
doing. If you would like to help extend
a warm welcome to newcomers, old-timers — and everyone in between — please
contact Rev. Kate at the Church Office at (703)777-1124 or
kate@stjamesleesburg.org to volunteer as a coffee hour host.

Saturday Night Service
Coming Soon: Our
congregational surveys indicated a strong enough interest in starting a
Saturday Night Service that we are now actively recruiting those who would like
to be part of this new effort. The St.
Gabriel’s-sponsored service would be held at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday evenings at
St. James’. The service would
definitely be informal and family-friendly.
Other details will be worked out by the planning team. If you are interested in participating
either as (a) a regular worshipper, committed to give us regular feedback in
the early weeks of the new service or ( b) part of the launch team to “make it
all happen” then contact Pastor Jeunee at (703)779-3616 or
pastor@saintgabriels.net and let us know of your interest. An initial “next steps” meeting will be held
Thursday, September 6, in the Parish Hall at 7:00 p.m.
