Today

¨       Newcomer? No matter who you are, or where you are in your faith journey, you are welcome here. After the 7:45 service, please join us in the Parish Hall for a cup of coffee and after the 9:00 and 11:15 services — weather permitting — outside the Bell Tower for lemonade and iced tea.

¨       Adult Forum and Sunday School, usually meeting at 10:10 each Sunday, are both taking a much-deserved Sabbath rest for the summer.

¨       Healing Rail: During the 11:15 service, and on occasion at the 7:45 and 9:00 services, the laying on of hands and anointing with holy oil is offered to everyone either before or after receiving Communion. Kneelers are located in front of the lectern (forward and to your left). Please come for your own needs or as an intercessor for those you have on your heart or mind.

Next Sunday

St. James' Day Celebration: We celebrate the feast day of our patron saint, St. James, with an all-parish pig roast after the 10:00 a.m. service (please note: the 9:00 & 11:15 services are combined at 10:00 that day.)  This is a special day in the life of our parish, so save the date on your calendar!  Volunteering for set-up or tear-down is a great way to get “a little more involved” in your church, so if you’re interested, please let us know by calling the Church

Parish Database Update:  By now you should have received a copy of the parish database information we currently have on file for you.  Please review your information, make the necessary corrections or changes, and return it to the Church Office in the envelope provided.  (Please ignore some of the fields, such as “SSN” and “Misconduct Prevention.” These are used for employees and volunteers, and the software did not allow us to delete them from the profiles!) Thank you!

Registration forms are now available for our Middle School Outreach Camp, which will take place August 27-30. We are teaming up with St. Mary’s, Arlington, for four days of hands-on outreach in the community. The cost is $25, and the camp is open to rising 6th-8th graders. You can get a form online at http://www.stjamesleesburg.org/youth/MS%20Outreach%20Camp%20Reg%20Form.html or in the Narthex.

Audio Ministry Expanding: From time to time we have recorded sermons preached from the St. James’ pulpit and transferred them to CDs for listening by parishioners after the Sunday services. If you’re interested in helping to expand this ministry, we’d like to hear from you. Please contact Marnie Montgomery at info@stjamesleesburg.org.

The Good Grief Support Group will not meet again until September. Anyone who wishes to talk to someone in the meantime is welcome to call Church Office at (703)777-1124.

The pantry at Interfaith Relief is experiencing a shortage of the following: macaroni & cheese, canned pasta/sauce, 100% juice in plastic or cans, and school supplies. If you are a gardener, please consider donating some of your “crop,” so that families in need can have fresh fruit and vegetables.  You may leave food donations on the stage in the Parish Hall to be picked up by Interfaith Relief on Sundays or donate to Interfaith Relief directly, Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Loudoun Interfaith Relief was established in 1991 by dedicated and compassionate volunteers from area churches who were united by a commitment to offer support and solutions to the working poor and homeless.  Thank you!

The Virginia Historical Society (428 North Boulevard, Richmond, Virginia 23220; Phone: 804-358-4901) exhibit July 14 through January 13:  The Episcopal Church in Virginia, 1607–2007 The first Jamestown colonists brought with them the liturgy, theology, and administrative practices of the Church of England. As part of the government of Virginia until the Revolution, or as one of many churches serving Virginians after 1776, the Anglican/Episcopal Church has played an important role as a “middle way” between cultural extremes. This commemorative exhibition includes rare objects and interesting images of buildings and services. It also profiles people of shared faith, in a denomination marked by strong traditions, struggling to adapt to an ever-changing world.
